Results - in country

Although Brazil is the second most-mentioned market after China for new market entry, for general market expansion USA and Germany are ranked 2 & 3
The overall theme of this Report, coming across strongly from all the CFOs interviewed, is one of optimism for the future of their organisations and the ultimate success of their overseas endeavours.

However, country-specific feedback is much more nuanced and provides a rich insight into the behaviours of CFOs within their country. For instance:

  • In Brazil they are expecting growth of 12% in revenues on average from overseas, compared with 7% growth globally
  • Russian businesses are more likely to stay close to home when considering international expansion and identify Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Germany, Poland and Czech Republic as destinations for their growth
  • Canadian businesses perceive that conducting business abroad has become more difficult than three years ago. 26% believe it is more difficult as opposed to only 4% who believe it has become easier. Globally, 28% believe it is more difficult but 22% believe it has become easier.
